2nd hand SIGNED BY John Dodd himself. Good condition although the spine has some creasing.1970
The fall of Singapore forced John Dodd to escape to Java, where for nearly six months he kept one jump ahead of the pursuing Japanese by hiding in villages or alone in the jungle.
Eventually he was betrayed, tortured and sent back to Singapore and Changi Jail. Unbelievably he survived those 4 years, matured by his experiences into a very special person, with an insight into the horror of imprisonment that was to benefit thousands of other men.
To help the 'emotionally legless', those often institutionalised from childhood, he set up the Langley House Trust, which provides halfway houses for men discharged from prison. This edition brings the Langley House story up to date, describing how it has grown to the largest organisation of its kind in the world, with 12 houses caring for men for whom prison life, though grim, has been a haven from a demanding world.
