Paul's letter to the Romans is difficult, and scholars interpret it in many different ways. In this book, the author concludes that the apostle wrote it because Christians in Rome held the belief that, for Gentiles to be saved, they had to be become Jews as well as Christians. The author shows how this enables Paul's long argument in the letter to be explained in a coherent and consistent manner, and makes sense of difficult passages. Many of the resulting interpretations are new.
