About Us
Olive Tree started as a bookshop in Edmonton, North London, serving the local christian community, moving up to Lincolnshire in 2001 when the lease came to an end.
Our aim has been to serve God by serving the christian community, providing resources such as books, gifts and church supplies. Our site at High Mill, Old Bolingbroke has allowed us to provide facilities for day retreats, and start a hobby of keeping lincolnshire long wool sheep, together with ducks and chickens.
The organisation is a partnership between Peter and Linda Strickland, who have run the business for the last 23 years, being joined by Linda's sister Ann some years ago.
Ann has used her skills at Craft to run craft clubs, origami workshops and illuminated caligraphy drawing people regularly many miles to participate in their creative leisure time.
We have a windmill which has been adapted at ground floor level to serve as a small worship area or meeting room, whilst larger meetings at warmer times of the year have been held in the barn, but a new Showroom has been created by combining two stables and fitting it out as a meeting room with heating. All the buildings are close to the shop which has a large car park immediately in front, and a further overflow car park for the very busy times.
The shop also has a Tea Room area providing drinks and hot snacks, including muffins for which we have gained something of a reputation, fresh baked cakes and when appropriate Soup of the day.
The site generates its own electricity, with a wind turbine and diesel generator, but we have the benefit of an elevated position overlooking the flat lands of the fens and The Wash from the very edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. We are 4 miles from Spilsby and 9 miles from Horncastle.
Opening Hours 10.00am - 4.00pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We are closed on Tuesdays and Sundays.
