Marjorie Maltby, daughter of a Lincolnshire farmer, was born in 1911. after training as a Methodist local preacher, her calling as a Wesley Deaconess led her to serve unexpected causes. Doors of Opportunity opened for her into pioneering, often ecumenical developments in youth work in Bristol, industrial chaplaincy in Manchester, work with overseas students in newcastle, and leading the lincoln City Centre team ministry.
In 1974 she was ordained as one of the first women methodist ministers and served lincoln south Circuit foe 8 years. 13 years as a supernumary minister was spent in collingham near Newark. full retirement in Lincoln still includes some preaching and also sharing voluntary chaplaincy at the St Barnabas Hospice.
